«Grimoire of Tiamat» by Asenat Mason is a complete system of magic, based on the ancient Mesopotamian goddess Tiamat and the eleven monsters she created to aid in the fight against the new order of gods led by Marduk. While... broader attention in the book is obviously given to Tiamat, a large part of the practical section of this Grimoire is devoted to the eleven god-demons: Bashmu (Poisonous Snake), Ushumgallu (Great Dragon), Mushmakkhu (Exalted Snake), Mushhushshu (Furious Snake), Lahamu (Hairy), Ugalu (Great Weather Beast), Uridimmu (Mad Lion), Girtablullu (Man-Scorpion), Umu Dabrutu (Cruel Storms), Kulullu (Man-Fish), and Kusarikku (Man-Bull). The book is divided into three parts: firstly, a lengthy introduction to the topic and cosmology, followed by separate works for each of the eleven god-demons, and then a final appendix of thematically related works dedicated directly to Tiamat and Kingu. The second section, Descendants of Tiamat, presents ways to work with each of the eleven god-demons, preceding an explanation of the techniques that follow, and the use of the Key of Night, the main seal that is used throughout the work as a means of accessing the Dark Side. The final section of the «Grimoire of Tiamat» is an appendix that refocuses on Tiamat, as it takes the form of a guided meditation in the waters of Tiamat, a ritual for two participants invoking Tiamat and Kingu, a malefic rite, and a discussion of the underworld in Mesopotamian belief, followed by a chthonic guided working path.
