Fables

We have been friends with the fables of I. A. Krylov since childhood. As schoolchildren, we memorize the story about the monkey and the glasses, the grasshopper and the ant, and in adult life we happily quote: «The cuckoo praises... the rooster…» «You read these works and cannot help but admire their wisdom, sharpness, and some special folk composition, — said the animal artist Evgeny Rachyov. — With great interest, I am re-reading the texts, getting acquainted with special literary studies and commentaries, and with the memories of the writer's contemporaries who understood perfectly whom a particular fable was aimed at.» This time, the artist dressed the animals in costumes from Krylov's time.
