Ordinary Miracle. Plays

Yevgeny Lvovich Schwartz (1896-1958) wrote his main fairy tales on the eve of and during the Great Patriotic War. He, like no one else, acutely felt the moral threat and the fierce face of fascist dictatorship and the cult of personality of Stalin. And in his works, he transforms harsh and terrifying reality into a magical tale, through which a not-so-fairy reality of the 30s-40s of the 20th century shines through.
The writer sought to predict our future and point the ways to goodness and light. But what awaits us: the shadow of a dragon or an ordinary miracle? I would like to believe that good and love will one day triumph over evil, which will remain only in the stories of a wise storyteller. Will we wait for it?..
