Oblomov. A Novel in Four Parts

The novel "Oblomov" is the central work in the famous trilogy of Ivan Alexandrovich Goncharov (1812–1891). Goncharov created a hero whose name has become a common noun. He is identified with Russian laziness and Russian melancholy, considered the embodiment of the national character. However, this does not prevent critics and readers from finding in the image of Oblomov traits of Hamlet and Manilov, Don Quixote, and even Pechorin. The author shows the tragic fate of an intelligent person who has never found the strength to be worthy of the life he has lived.
