Super Strange Children

Mila constantly falls out of reality, immersing herself in her inner world. Her parents are used to her always daydreaming and worry that she has no friends. Peter is afraid of the dark and supernatural beings that hide in the... darkness and pursue him in nightmares. And his dad, unfortunately, compares Peter to his braver younger brother. Katka is ashamed of her fullness and dives into books to communicate less with people. Mom does not accept Katka's appearance and praises her daughter only when she restricts herself in food and engages in sports. Katka secretly eats sweets. Franta is annoyed that others see him as a "cripple on crutches," so he often provokes fights and secretly films them. Mom and stepdad do not know how to find common ground with Franta: he does everything in defiance.

This is the story of four children who, each in their own way, come to terms with their oddities and try to fit into a society where being different, being strange is considered abnormal.

Petra Soukupová (born 1982) is one of the most successful contemporary Czech writers.
