Vasily Andreyevich Zhukovsky 1783-1852 left behind a rich creative legacy. Many of his works received recognition and enormous popularity during the poet's lifetime, among them - the poem The Song of the Bard over the Grave of the Slavic Victors,... the ballad Svetlana, the elegy The Singer in the Ranks of Russian Warriors, as well as the text of the Russian anthem God Save the Tsar!. Deeply knowledgeable about European literature and constantly inspired by it, the poet was nevertheless able to fill his works with Russian color and make unfamiliar images more relatable to the Russian reader. Zhukovsky actively appeared as a translator, and his most significant achievements in this field were the Russian versions of Don Quixote by Cervantes and the Odyssey by Homer. Finally, it is Zhukovsky who is credited with preparing the first collected works of A.S. Pushkin. Throughout his life, Vasily Andreyevich remained a model of a positive person: in difficult times he supported writers, stood up for the persecuted, and throughout his creative work sought to encourage people towards intellectual, spiritual, and moral development. This collection includes the most famous tales by V.A. Zhukovsky: The War of Mice and Frogs 1831, The Sleeping Princess 1831, and The Tale of Prince Ivan and the Grey Wolf 1845. For younger school age. The texts of the works are presented without abbreviation.
