Musical Literature. Russian Musical Classics. 3rd Year of Study
The emergence of this educational manual is associated with the fact that the traditional Program on Musical Literature for Music Schools was published in 1956 and, without any qualitative changes, has undergone several reprints in 1962, 1970, 1979, and 1982....
Naturally, many provisions and thematic plans of the standard program have become outdated and do not meet the requirements of new approaches and methods of musical education for children. In recent years, other models of programs and curricula have begun to appear, adapting the content of the course to new historical and socio-cultural conditions. This manual is based on many years of experience in teaching the subject of Musical Literature in Music Schools, outlined in the author's programs and methodological recommendations by E. Lisyanskaya, Yu. Ageeva, A. Khotuntsov, M. Kuklinska, etc. The educational manual for the third year of study covers a vast period of the development of Russian music: from the ancient Russian era to the end of the 19th century. In addition to traditional topics, it includes classes dedicated to the development of Russian musical culture up to Glinka, the peculiarities of artistic life in Russia in the second half of the 19th century. Monographic classes also include the analysis of works that are not included in the traditional Program of the course on musical literature. In creating this manual, we took into account that one of the main tasks of music schools is not only the development of children's musical abilities and understanding the basics of classical and contemporary musical creativity but also the preparation of active listeners and music lovers. Therefore, our book also includes additional introductory materials. They are united in the section Tells us that... and are aimed at a broad audience of children. Some of these materials are drawn from the book Happy Intermission. Curious Stories from the Lives of Musicians compiled by I. Artemchuk. - Kyiv. 1989.
