Hokusai

Hokusai is one of the leading masters of color woodblock printing during the Edo period and one of the most famous artists in the world from Japan. He is well-known in Europe, Russia, and much is written about him; his works are studied and researched, regular exhibitions of his works are held in different countries, and documentaries are made about his creativity. Hokusai was one of those masters who began the discovery of Japanese art as an independent artistic world, one of the first to become known in the West. Hokusai's legacy is immense. He lived a long life, nearly 90 years, and during that time created a vast number of works. These include woodblock prints, book illustrations, painted scrolls and screens, monumental murals. To date, there are about thirty thousand units of his works. This colorful mini-album features both works from the most famous series of the great master and his lesser-known works.
