Treasure Island

The most famous pirate novel was conceived by R. L. Stevenson (1850–1894) during a game with his adopted son. The drawn map of the island inspired the writer to write an adventure book – "an amusing story for boys about... pirates, battles, and treasures." The novel brought the author worldwide fame and became a classic example of adventure literature.
…The son of the owner of a Bristol tavern, Jim Hawkins, accidentally becomes the possessor of the map to the island where pirate treasures are hidden. Together with Dr. Livesey, Squire Trelawney, and Captain Smollett, he sets off in search of the treasure. The boy and his friends are confronted by a gang led by the one-legged John Silver, who is also hunting for Captain Flint's untold riches…
The novel was released in the most famous and popular translation by N. K. Chukovsky, with famous illustrations by Lewis Reed, which give the book the charm of an old tome.
