The English writer Robert Louis Stevenson entered the history of world literature not only as a classic of the adventure genre but also as a realist writer and a deep connoisseur of human psychology.

The main character of the novel «Kidnapped» is David Balfour, the son of a poor rural teacher. Upon receiving an inheritance, he unexpectedly encounters vile and treacherous betrayal from his own uncle. The life of the seventeen-year-old boy, which was recently calm and predictable, turns into a whirlwind of dangerous adventures: kidnapping, shipwreck, confrontations with the warlike chiefs of Scottish clans and royal troops, serious illness, and a test of friendship's strength... How many obstacles will David have to overcome to claim his rightful rights?
