"On Pseudohallucinations" is the main work of the brief creative life of the founder of Russian psychiatry V. Kh. Kandinsky. As one of the classical works of psychiatric thought, this book contains not only a story about its main subject...
- the phenomenon of pseudohallucinations, but also clinical descriptions of various psychopathological states, many of which were made by the author based on observations of his own illness. These descriptions have not lost their relevance to this day. Unfortunately, the book experienced a similarly difficult fate as its author. In 1885, the work was awarded the prize named after physician Filippov by the St. Petersburg Society of Psychiatrists and was supposed to be published with the funds of this society, which "due to the absence of such" was never done. Nevertheless, it was published in German in Berlin. Only after Kandinsky's death, thanks to the efforts of his wife, was the monograph published in his homeland. 60 years later, in 1952, the second edition of the book was released, but its text was altered by a Soviet editor who excluded those parts where the author expressed adherence to the views of Western philosophers and psychiatrists. It took another 50 years for the work to be published in its original form, which happened in 2001. This edition is published in accordance with the 1890 book.
