The Elephant's Child and Other Fairytales

The book introduces the reader to the works of the famous English writer Joseph Rudyard Kipling (1865—1936). While traveling through various countries, in 1899 he spent several months in South Africa, where he collected material for a new children's book,... which was published in 1902 under the title «Just So Stories». Children all over the world are captivated by his tales about a curious little elephant, a cat that walked by itself, how the leopard got its spots, and how the first letter was written.
This guide will help high school students prepare for the state final exam in English.
The text of the guide is adapted for educational purposes to the Elementary level. Each chapter is accompanied by comments, translations of difficult words and expressions, as well as exercises aimed at developing the students' communicative competence. The exercises will foster communicative skills in reading, writing, and speaking, as well as develop lexical and grammatical skills.
At the end of the guide, answers to most assignments are provided, as well as an English-Russian dictionary and a test in the format of the Basic State Exam with keys.
The book is intended for students in grades 5—8 of educational institutions, as well as a wide audience studying the English language.
