Southern China in 1840–1841. European traders and adventurers began to penetrate China for the first time, a fabulously rich country full of dangers and mysteries.

These people paid with their lives for weakness, indecisiveness, and ignorance of Eastern customs.

And at this time, the Englishman Dirk Struan set himself the goal of turning the desolate island of Hong Kong into an indomitable bastion of British might and rising to the pinnacle of power, becoming the supreme ruler – the taipan.
