The Origin of Language

The study of the question of the origin of human language, or glottogenesis, resembles a detective story: there are too many versions and evidence-needs to be gathered piece by piece. Moreover, these pieces come from different sciences: anthropology, neurophysiology, ethology,... archaeology, genetics, and of course, linguistics. In the book "The Origin of Language: Facts, Research, Hypotheses," linguist, Doctor of Philological Sciences Svetlana Burlak gathered data from all these sciences, explained it in simple terms, and proposed her hypothesis on the origin of language. This is already the second, revised edition of the book. It has been 10 years since the release of the first edition. During this time, dozens of discoveries have been made in glottogenesis, and the question of the origin of language has become one of the most fashionable areas in science. The new edition takes into account the latest scientific data, includes a new chapter, and other chapters have been significantly expanded.
