The Science of Consciousness. Modern Theory of Subjective Experience

In the book by Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Princeton University Michael Graziano, author of the already well-known attention schema theory, a new theory of consciousness is presented. According to it, what we call consciousness is actually a model of our own psyche.
Graziano argues that it is natural for humans to create such models—even in relation to inanimate objects.
The author proposes a hypothesis about the origin of consciousness in the evolutionary lineage, describes several intellectual experiments alongside real ones, elaborates on the phenomenon of social consciousness, and offers a scenario for the living transfer of personality to artificial carriers for posthumous existence.
