Attention! This is an expansion. You will need the basic version of "Munchkin" to play.
"Munchkin. How to kill a dragon" – is a small thematic expansion for classic "Munchkin", but no one will stop you from adding dragons to any...
of the available settings! Dragons in space or on a pirate ship? Why not?! The more madness, the better, right?
The set includes a total of fifteen new cards, among which are 11 doors and 4 treasures, including one Steed. All new cards can simply be shuffled into your deck and easily extracted from it if desired, as all cards are marked with a special symbol. Meet new amazing monsters: the charming "Little Dragon Rostov" and "Dragon Stalker", lurking in the alley! Be sure to try out the new gear and become "Dragonborn" (while gaining a level).
The main feature of the expansion, as you have already guessed, is dragons. And for good reason! The fact is that this separate class of monsters has a set of peculiarities:
Dragons are considered dragons if their original name contains Dragon, Serpent, or Wyrm
In battle with a dragon, you can throw other dragons without the aid of the "Wandering Creature" card. This also applies to undead and sharks
Dragons have immunity to fire and flame items, meaning you do not receive bonuses
However, large items give double bonuses against dragons!
About the game
The game "Munchkin" – is a localization of the tabletop card game Munchkin. In Russian, the game, no matter how hard you try, acquires a new sound, but remains as exciting, dynamic, and gleeful as ever. The role-playing rib-tickling through simple, yet sometimes deliberately vague rules mocks noble elves, wise wizards, brave warriors, and hairy hobbits. Clerics battle the undead, thieves stab their opponents in the heat of battle, giant Calamari and vile Face-Suckers strive to poison or steal heroic lives from your munchkins, but all this unfolds casually, without long speeches and numerous rolls of diverse dice, accepted in D&D, GURPS, and other role-playing systems.
Thus, the board game "Munchkin" – is a role-playing game in form, a parody in content. Players’ munchkins walk through the dungeon, bringing forth monstrous inhabitants into the light of day and either regret it or gain new levels and treasures for victory. The outcome of each such adventure (battle, shorter) depends on what the player has brought to the fight. For the player, this is their level and bonuses/penalties from items, class, race, and curses. For the monster, it is their level plus power-up cards and one-time items. Where does the monster get its items? Jealous opponents can also take part in your battle: they can aid the monster and weaken you. Therefore, while "Munchkin" can be played with two people, gather more players for a match: there will be more curses, enhancers, and potions available, which can easily change the tide of battle in any direction, and vigilant envious players will not let anyone of you emerge as solitary leaders in the race to level 10.
When creating the board game "Munchkin", it was directed towards a youth audience familiar with role-playing games. However, the game "Munchkin" can be played at any age except for very young children, where some of Steve Jackson's jokes may seem overly salty. But in any case, a fantasy adventure with courageous/feminine heroes, incredible situations, indescribably creepy indescribable monsters, and vast treasure hoards will please anyone with a broad outlook and a healthy sense of humor.
How to play?
At the beginning of the game, players start as ordinary people of their gender (yes-yes, there is even a gender distinction in the game!) of level one. On your turn, you kick down a door, meaning you flip the top card of the door deck and perform the conditions written on the card. If it is a monster card, then you are out of luck and will have to confront it in battle. When the player's strength is greater than or equal to the monster's strength, then the player wins and can take as many treasure cards as indicated on the monster card. During the battle, other players can help their teammate and join the fight or hinder and strengthen the emerging enemy in various ways. If the player wins the battle, they gain one level. Throughout the game, players will apply various classes and professions on themselves, change their gender, don various gear, drink suspicious potions, and fight a wide range of monsters!
How to expand the deck?
The main feature of the board game "Munchkin" is its diversity. You can encounter the most varied settings of "Munchkin", and all of them can and should be mixed together! Learn new martial arts, try on a pirate eye patch, embark on a space journey – your games will become more diverse and interesting, you will meet unexpected monsters on your path, but of course, you will find something to retaliate with!
And who won?
It's very simple; the winner is the munchkin who first reaches level ten by any means necessary.
