The Art is Created for the Eyes

At the center of the collection is the professional and intellectual life of the artist. The letters to clients reflect the business side of creative work: relationships with the people for whom the works were created, and attention to the circumstances of the order. Fragments of treatises are dedicated to painting, perspective, measurement, and proportions, while the travel diary through the Netherlands contains observations about meetings, seen works of art, and events of the trip.
