Practice of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy for Psychotherapists

This book contains a step-by-step guide to using Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBC) when working with clients of various ages. The methods and case studies presented in the book will be useful and relevant for professionals in different fields—psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, family and marriage counselors, school teachers, university instructors, and many others working with children and adolescents. Each component of this approach can be used separately in various situations and conditions. SFBC is ideally suited for psychotherapists and other mental health professionals who often have too little time to provide clients with long-term traditional services. Today, more than ever, there is a demand for a quick, effective method to address a wide range of issues. The book is intentionally kept small in volume. Theory and research are discussed briefly, with a focus on implementation. My approach is to guide the reader through the material step by step, including practical exercises at the end of the first four chapters and in Appendices A and B. I aim to provide the knowledge necessary to apply SFBC in working with children and youth.
