This is the first book that examines a comprehensive model combining two main postmodern approaches: solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) and narrative therapy. By leveraging the strengths of both foundational models — the SFBT approach aimed at problem-solving and the narrative therapy approach emphasizing values and re-authoring the client's story — the new model offers clients effective assistance based on their strengths and ability to envision the desired outcome. The book provides an overview of postmodern models and describes their differences, similarities, limitations, and advantages. The author then demonstrates how to combine both approaches in contexts such as trauma therapy, overcoming addictions, relationship issues, and family therapy. Each issue is illustrated with a specific case example from working with adult clients, adolescents, children, or families. It also includes examples of therapeutic dialogues and samples of client forms.
