Hungry Tide

Piya arrives in the Sundarbans to study rare river dolphins and almost immediately faces the fact that scientific training is insufficient here. She does not know the Bengali language, is poorly oriented in local life, and depends on people whose knowledge has grown not in universities, but in the daily struggle with tides, currents, and danger. Two completely different companions find themselves beside her: the metropolitan translator Kanai Dutta and the fisherman Fokir, who feels the water and animals better than any specialist. Their joint trips to the islands gradually take the story beyond adventure and connect the present with the painful memory of the region.
