Classical Buddhist Philosophy

The teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni on entering Nirvana, and their theoretical interpretation in the texts of the post-canonical tradition, are considered by most specialists to be too complex a subject and, for this reason, hardly capable of captivating the reading public. However, books on this topic invariably attract wide attention.
This work, written by leading Buddhologists of Russia, is dedicated to a detailed exposition and analysis of the views of the Sarvastivada and Sautrantika schools, which form the classical direction of Buddhist philosophical thought in India during the ancient and early medieval periods. The appendix discusses classical Buddhist practices, which organically complements the theoretical part.
The proposed edition may be useful as a textbook on philosophy, religious studies, and cultural studies for students and graduate students of relevant specialties, as well as for anyone interested in the history of Buddhism.
