Morning Without Mii

On a cool summer evening in 1977, Mayumi Inaba hears a plaintive squeak coming from the Tamagawa River in Tokyo. She follows the sound and finds a tiny kitten, abandoned and left to fate. Overflowing with tenderness, she takes it home and names it Mii. Thus begins the story of their great love. Over the next twenty years, we follow Inaba, a poet and writer, searching for silence and her own voice. Mii becomes for Mayumi a muse, a friend, and a reflection of her own fragility.
