And indeed — the poets of the Silver Age lived in love, breathed love. Their complex relationships did not allow them to silence the most important thing — the ability to feel, to perceive the world — as contradictory as it is. Anna Akhmatova and Nikolai Gumilev, Georgy Ivanov and Irina Odoevtseva, Vladimir Mayakovsky and Lilya Brick, Sergei Yesenin and Isadora Duncan… Reading these love stories, at some point one is horrified by the thought that a person can simultaneously experience so many ambiguous emotions.
This book, telling the story of the life, love, and last days of the poets of the Silver Age, was created by an associate professor of the Department of English Philology and Linguoculturology at Saint Petersburg State University — the author of lectures on Russian culture, literature, and art.
