Earthly Love. Fate

«Earthly Love. Fate» — a historical social drama about the life of a Soviet village from the early 1930s to 1944, where the personal choices of the characters are closely linked to the turning points of the era. Pyotr Lukich Proskurin constructs this story as a family saga about the chairman of the collective farm, his close ones, and the people alongside whom collectivization, economic growth, and war take place. The main focus here is not only on historical events but also on the inner conflict of a person who tries to hold onto the duty to their family, the responsibility to fellow villagers, and a feeling that disrupts the usual order of life. At the center of the plot is the chairman of the collective farm, whose fate is intertwined with the changes in village life and the trials of wartime. His late love for Maria Polivanova places the protagonist before a difficult choice between loyalty to family, public duty, and personal feeling.
