The narrative begins and ends on the African shore of the Suez Canal, where the lyrical hero finds himself immediately after the October War of 1973, known in Israel as the Yom Kippur War, but the main events of the novel unfold in Jerusalem in the early fifties. And since many plotlines have their roots in the distant past, the reader has the opportunity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Jerusalem in the 19th and the first half of the 20th century, touching on some important nodes of modern Jewish history.
