The Victim of Doctor Mengele. How to Survive in Auschwitz

Ruth Elias (1922–2008) wanted to enroll in a music academy in Prague and become a pianist. But after the occupation of Czechoslovakia, the Nazis sent her to the "model ghetto" Theresienstadt, created to demonstrate how "humanely" they treated Jews. In 1942, Ruth was deported to the most terrifying of death camps – Auschwitz-Birkenau, where SS doctor Josef Mengele conducted his monstrous experiments on her and her newborn daughter, becoming the most infamous villain in a white coat and entering the history of crimes of the Third Reich under the name "Doctor Death." Ruth Elias, one of the few surviving participants of Mengele's experiments, searched for her relatives for a long time after the war, but none of her numerous family members were able to survive the Holocaust.
