Instead of building a new bridge between the East and the West, it can simply be found – an ancient, eternal bridge, which is nothing other than the nature of the human soul.
Medieval alchemists, yogic tantrics, Christian mystics, Tibetan lamas, and Chinese Daoists, independently of each other, in deep introspection, developed their practices of ascent to wholeness, their paths of individuation. It was Carl Gustav Jung who discovered the deep kinship of the symbolic language and methods of various religious and yogic practices and brought them together into a unified system.
This book publishes the transcripts of Jung's lectures on Eastern and Western yogic practices, which were delivered for several years to a wide audience of non-specialists. That is why Jung speaks in an accessible language, with numerous examples, deeply analyzing each text and meticulously revealing its meaning. The book can be an excellent introduction to Jung's philosophy for those who are just beginning to explore archetypal psychology; on the other hand, for Jungians, it will be interesting because these lectures raise several important topics that were not included in Jung's books.
