Anatomy of the Soul

The process of psychotherapy, when fully immersed in it, triggers a series of deep and mysterious events. Both the therapist and the patient can easily lose the guiding thread. This is why people desperately cling to narrow and inadequate theories; they at least provide a sense of some orientation. If we do not intend to place mental phenomena in the Procrustean bed of one of the biased theories, we should seek categories for understanding the soul within itself. An ancient alchemical saying goes: `Dissolve the substance in its own water`. This is what we do when we try to understand the process of psychotherapy in terms of alchemy.
