Recipes of Love and Murder

The action takes place in Klein Karoo, a small town in South Africa. The main character writes a recipe column for the local newspaper, but the editorial office also assigns her to respond to readers' letters. Thus, she receives a letter from a woman living with violence who is seeking a way out. Soon this woman dies, and the quiet newspaper job turns into a personal case.

Together with young journalist Jessie, she begins to search for answers, while an official investigation is ongoing by local detective Henk Kannewer. The book contains the secrets of a small town, everyday details, a romantic line, and tension that grows as curiosity leads the heroines to other people's secrets. The novel combines elements of culinary and women's detective fiction, but it is primarily based on the human conflict: what to do when a stranger's request for help comes too late.
