Handbook for Practicing Psychiatrists. Main Psychopathological Symptoms, Syndromes, and Conditions

Practical psychiatry is based on the conceptual level of clinical thinking, which requires the specialist to master a variety of names, concepts, and descriptions of different manifestations of mental pathology. This knowledge is reflected in a brief and accessible manner in the proposed handbook.

The representation of each position is built according to a single algorithm from simple to complex: symptom — syndrome — condition — nosology — clinical example — help algorithm. This approach turns the handbook into a concise practical guide.

The symptoms, syndromes, and conditions are arranged in alphabetical order. Each position is accompanied by a vivid clinical description from the author's practice, a coding of the syndromal judgment for each described case according to ICD-10 and ICD-11, which is a feature of this publication. This approach continues the clinical traditions of domestic psychiatry, oriented towards nosological interpretation of cases, while also interpreting the described situations in accordance with international diagnostic classifications. The information for ICD-11 is provided solely for informational purposes.
Appendices include scales for assessing negative and positive syndromes, a classifier, and a glossary of psychotropic drugs used in psychiatry, indicating the INN and translation into Latin for the convenience of prescribing.
