The Sword Will Lead to Kiev. The Saga of Yaroslav

The history of the baptism of Rus, the reign of Saint Vladimir, the distribution of his sons across the principalities, and the fratricidal war that arose once — all this is a vivid historical foundation for the novel "The Sword Will Lead to Kiev". But here, in the author's stereoscopic vision, friendship and betrayal, debauchery and love, faith and cynical disbelief, the raids of the Pechenegs and the invitation of Varangian mercenaries are refracted. Moreover, there are constant intersections with more modern realities, especially when the retinue during the feast starts to sing the famous song: "Let us drink, comrades, for our prince, our father, let us drink — and pour again!" The past never leaves without a trace; it is here, with us, in our roots.
