Paramatma Prakasha-Vritti

“Paramatma Prakasha-Vritti” (Sanskrit: “Commentary on the 'Radiance of the Supreme Atman'”) — is the first translation into a European language of the only Sanskrit commentary by Brahmadeva (14th century) on the work of Yogindu (6th century) “Paramappapayasa” (Apabhraṃśa: “Radiance of the Supreme Atman”), which played a key role in the formation of Jain mysticism. Brahmadeva, elucidating the couplets-dohas of Yogindu created in the Apabhraṃśa language, demonstrates that the ordinary identification of one's self, the spiritual essence — Atman with the body, various forms of matter (external Atman), and even mental states (internal Atman) is incorrect. The true, supreme Atman reveals itself as the pure radiance of self-consciousness. Brahmadeva, following Yogindu, asserts that the true Brahman, Shiva, and any other deity worshipped by representatives of other religious traditions is only the supreme Atman, as described by the Jains.
