The Collected Works of Leonardo da Vinci

This volume of the collected works of the Russian thinker, literary and ballet critic, and art historian Akim Lvovich Volynsky (1861/1863–1926) publishes his fundamental work "Leonardo da Vinci" (1897–1898). By the end of the 1890s, Volynsky had already summarized his "searches for Leonardo da Vinci," which he had been conducting in museums and libraries in Italy and other countries in Europe since 1896, publishing a number of articles on this topic in the "Northern Herald," and compiled them into a separate edition. In this cycle of his works, a deep re-examination of the Renaissance era and the legacy of Leonardo was conducted, whom he first discovered in Russia not as a museumified classic, but as a phenomenon that is thoroughly and incurably crisis-ridden, even before the appearance of "The Resurrected Gods" by D. S. Merezhkovsky.

The book is intended for art historians, historians of Russian philosophical and aesthetic thought.
