Russian Land, 950 AD.
A young Drevlyanin, Berest, sees dozens of dead on the fresh grave of Prince Ingvar: it is the revenge of his wife, Princess Elga, on the murderers of her husband. Now a military storm will descend upon Berest's home. Having lost all his relatives, he will live only with a thirst for revenge, naming Lyt, the younger son of Voivode Sveneld, as guilty.
The seventeen-year-old Lyt learns terrible news: Prince Ingvar has died in the land of Derevskaya, the state is threatened with collapse, and his older brother, Mistina, is considered a traitor... Finding support in each other, the two sons of the late Sveneld take on matters, the first of which is revenge for the prince.
More than once, the paths of the Drevlyan war will bring Berest and Lyt together, each with their own truth. And the last sword of Ingvar, lost at the hour of his demise, will yet return from the riverbed: to deal a devastating blow.
