The book is intended for studying the Python language with an emphasis on its use in engineering and scientific calculations, starting from the installation of the interpreter and learning the basics of the language to the application of specialized libraries. The main topics cover the built-in types of the language, functions and type annotations, the peculiarities of dynamic typing, text formatting and processing, including the use of regular expressions, and file handling. It thoroughly examines the basic ideas of object-oriented programming and its features in Python. It also touches on topics such as exception handling, application testing, describes some modules from the standard library, and many third-party libraries, in particular, NumPy for mathematical calculations, Pandas for processing tabular data, Matplotlib for creating various types of charts, and libraries for working with various file formats. Tools such as IPython and JupyterLab, used in scientific and engineering fields, are considered.
