White Nights

«White Nights» is the pinnacle of Fyodor Dostoevsky's early work. On one of the summer nights in St. Petersburg, a young dreamer meets the distressed Nastenka on the embankment. Her heart belongs to another, but the hero hopelessly falls in love with the girl. Tender souls in a big city briefly save each other from loneliness. The collection also includes stories and novellas by the writer devoted to the «little man» and his passions: «The Hostess», «The Crawlers», «A Weak Heart», «The Honest Thief», «The Christmas Tree and Wedding», and «The Little Hero». Be it a petty bureaucrat crushed by poverty or a lonely romantic tormented by unrequited love – all of them outline the further path for the writer's main novels.
