Dead Souls

«Dead Souls» — a cult poem by Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol, combining elements of satire and deep philosophical reflection on the fate of Russia. The main character, Pavel Ivanovich Chichikov, embarks on an adventurous enterprise — the purchase of deceased serfs from landowners, which allows him to become wealthy on paper. Each of the characters personifies various vices of society. The idle dreamer Manilov, the brazen and unscrupulous Nozdryov, the harsh and cruel Sobakevich, the narrow-minded and stubborn Korobochka, the greedy and suspicious Plyushkin.
