Herbarium of Jeanne

France, mid-18th century. Young Jeanne loves nature and is well-versed in plants, but a peasant orphan's path to science is blocked – she faces only hard work on the farm. However, the world is not without kind people, and a renowned Dijon apothecary takes the talented girl as his assistant, teaching her the basics of botany along the way.
It is at the apothecary's house that Jeanne meets the famous doctor and naturalist Philibert Commerson, a young widower searching for a nanny for his newborn son. Intelligent and perceptive, Jeanne quickly becomes his secretary and assistant, and then his lover. Unable to openly express their feelings, which contradict the morals of the time, the couple moves to Paris, and soon Commerson is invited to participate in the first French circumnavigation under the command of Antoine de Bougainville. Will the lovers really be separated? After all, women are not allowed on the ships of the Royal Navy...
