Florensky

Priest of the Russian Orthodox Church Pavel Alexandrovich Florensky (1882—1937) — a man-university, a man-epoch, a man-universe. Turning to the biography and key works of Father Pavel, one realizes that there is no area of knowledge in which Florensky did not leave a mark: theology and philosophy, art history and linguistics, ethnography and anthropology, mineralogy and engineering… And in this, it is not only the genius of the human mind or an insatiable thirst for knowledge. It is, above all, a quest for the Truth. And the Truth does not tolerate division; it reveals itself only in unity and communion.

Modern society, the author believes, needs such a personality, a model of such a unifying gift, a holistic worldview, an unwavering pursuit of Truth. The martyr's death of Pavel Florensky, his Calvary ascent became a triumph of Orthodoxy. And the light of his spiritual feat continues to shine for all of us. This is what inspired the author to write the book.
