Ghosts of Water

A Cornish detective thriller. On an autumn morning, Natalie Tiyak, a young mother, is found dead at the foot of a cliff in remote Peniwit, in western Cornwall. The police are puzzled: murder, suicide, accident? A year later, Natalie's two children, Grace and Solomon, living in an old estate with their father Malcolm, start to behave strangely. Their mysterious statements and actions suggest that they know more about their mother's death than they are ready to reveal. The police are at a dead end again. The children clearly need psychological help, and forensic psychologist Karensa Bray takes on the case, but when she arrives at the old mansion, hidden in a fairy-tale forest valley by the harsh sea, she realizes that the mystery is much more enigmatic and dangerous than anything she has dealt with before. Trying to help the children, Karensa begins to search for the roots of tragedy in the past and is astonished to realize that the case she encountered is a clear example of the fashionable theory of psychological epigenetics, according to which psychological trauma is inherited from generation to generation.
