DRUZHBA

DRUZHBA — is a story about the sea, language, love, and poetry that do not die, but leave and return, sometimes after decades or centuries. The novel presents two parallel stories. One: a Tatar journalist and poet from Kazan in the early 20th century, who lives only through poems about his beloved and the magical bountiful Blue Sea, to which she is about to leave. The second: a young lawyer from Moscow in the 2000s, who dreams of becoming a lawyer but finds a new dream in the former port of the Aral Sea, Muynak. They are connected by the beloved of one and the grandmother of the other, and also by poetry and the sea.
