Dead Grain

The atmospheric country detective is full of idyllic scenes and tranquility. But they are shattered by a series of brutal crimes.

1975. Bryansk region. Early in the morning, a dead projectionist named Sashka is found in a wheat field by the road. There are no traces at the crime scene.
A task force from Moscow arrives in the village: investigator Tumansky, operative Voronov, and criminologist Graiva. The first to come under suspicion is the wife of the murdered man, Nadezhda. She is too calm, and she has a dozen reasons to kill her husband.
The accountant Andreyev is also suspected. The projectionist was having an affair with his daughter, and the accountant has every reason to hate Sashka.
The warehouse manager Borshchev is behaving strangely. He smiles at everyone but is clearly withholding something.
A radio amateur named Medved is also on the detectives' radar, with his strange words broadcasting for tens of kilometers.
Even the director of the state farm, Utkin, has something to be suspected of — he signs too smooth reports. Too perfect…
After a few days, the body of the district police officer is pulled from the river, who had previously informed the investigator that he "almost understood everything." The village maintains unanimity. Alibis sound consistent. Everyone swears by the truth.
The detectives' versions collapse one after another. Only numbers remain. But even they don't add up. And the truth is somewhere nearby, with no witnesses...
