Alexander Nilin (b. 1940) — prose writer, memoirist, author of several biographical books, including “Peredelkino: over the fences”.
In his new novel “Provisional Diagnosis”, Nilin tells about friends and contemporaries known to the general reader, and about relatives who make up his family circle. Among the first are Viktor Shklovsky, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, and Yevgeny Rein, Anatoly Naiman, Igor Kio, Leonid and Galina Brezhnev, Mikhail Ardov, Alexander Maryamov, Viktor Merezhko, and many others. Nearby are his wife Natalia Ivanova, father Pavel Nilin, and brother Mikhail. Also, university exams, favorite places like “Airport” and Peredelkino, “Machin Kасhtan” — all that the author himself calls “unspent illusions”.
