Hello, Boy Banana!

The book by Yuri Chernavsky – a composer whose music defined the trendiest sound of the Soviet 1980s. The song 'Hello, Boy Banana' from the soundtrack of Solovyov's 'Assa' is his most famous song in cinema. Few hit-making producers have managed to create their own universe, like 'Star Wars' or 'Stranger Things'. In Soviet and Russian music, Yuri Chernavsky was something like Brian Eno. He did not provide production services; he involved artists in his adventures. For the eternal musketeer Mikhail Boyarsky, he came up with the synthesizer 'Moon Cinema'. Chernavsky elevated Georgy Jungvald-Khilkevich's films 'Above the Rainbow' and 'Season of Wonders' to a fundamentally new level, thanks to experiments with jazz-rock and electro-funk. Young vocalist Volodya Presnyakov from 'Cruise' embarked on improvisations a la Al Jarreau, while beloved Alla Pugacheva opened the 'White Door' to film music in the spirit of Hollywood fantasy.
