Black Skin, White Masks

The thunderous voice of Martinican theorist and inspirer of revolutionary struggles for decolonization in the Third World, Frantz Fanon (1925–1961), had a fundamental influence on the formation of black identity and served as an impetus for the development of critical race theory.

The book "Black Skin, White Masks" is one of his most significant works. First published in 1952, it received high praise from the academic community for its poetic elegance and unparalleled, deep exploration of the psyche of black people in the white world. Building his critique on field material, personal experience, philosophy, and psychoanalytic theory, Fanon incisively examines the roots of racism of various kinds: covert, self-directed, subconscious… The publication of this work in the Russian language is truly an important event, as it allows us to see a whole range of sociocultural phenomena occurring today from a completely new perspective.
