Why is another book about the Templars needed?
With each passing year, more books and publications about the knights in white cloaks with a red cross are being released. What continues to captivate people about this era, which is so distant... in time from us and has already been almost forgotten?
What is the matter here?
We believe that the reason lies in what we call mystery: something elusive, transcendent, and at the same time very close, tempting with its accessibility and slipping away from our inquisitive minds at the last moment. Something that resists despite any "serious" scientific research. This elusive quality will exist as long as the legend of the Knights of the Temple lives on. Starting from Wolfram von Eschenbach and Robert de Boron to Apollon Andreevich Karelins, legends about the Order of the Temple excite our imagination, making us a little less materialistic than life makes us every day; awakening in our souls what was once called a dream, a love of beauty, heroism, and adventure.
The Order of the Templars did not die in the distant year of 1312, as it was supposed to according to the papal bull Vox in excelso about its dissolution, nor did it vanish into oblivion with the death of Grand Master Jacques de Molay in 1314.
This book is about how the life of the Templar Order developed after its demise, the paths the chivalric spirit took, leaving its mark in history, legends, and most importantly – in the souls of the people for whom this spirit remains not just an empty sound but something very close and familiar.
