On the Banks of the Seine

The overwhelming success of the book «On the Banks of the Neva» inspired Irina Odoevtseva to create a second part of her memoirs — the book «On the Banks of the Seine», dedicated to the lives of Russian literati in... exile. In 1922, Odoevtseva left Russia and spent most of her life in France, but returned to her homeland in 1987. As in her first book, the author primarily tells not about herself, but about those people with whom fate brought her together.
The characters in this book — G. Ivanov, K. Balmont, I. Bunin, I. Severyanin, G. Adamovich, M. Tsvetaeva. Essentially, the entire Russian Silver Age that found itself in exile.
The book by Odoevtseva narrates the story of a generation of people who saw themselves as guardians and continuators of Russian literary traditions.
