Lin Thi Vu was born in Vietnam, grew up in Australia, and has always felt like an outsider everywhere. Now she is a gangster in Chinese-occupied Hanoi, living in the stuffy, paranoid alleys of the "Thirty-Six Streets."
Thanks to her perseverance... and courage, Lin has earned a place in the criminal hierarchy of Hanoi under the guidance of Bao Nguyen, who taught her how to fight and survive. After all, the street never gives a second chance.
Meanwhile, the residents of Hanoi are engrossed in an exciting neurogame "Good Conflict" – a simulation of the war between the USA and Vietnam. When one of the game's developers arrives in Hanoi in search of his friend, Lin finds herself drawn into grand conspiracies of neon gods: megacorporations supported by powerful politicians who aim to control her city.
Lin confronts the main principles of unjust wars. She must choose: family, country, or gang. Blood, truth, or redemption. Only no choice in the "Thirty-Six Streets" comes easily.
