The Sound and the Fury

"The Sound and the Fury" – Faulkner's main novel, adapted into film multiple times, included in the list of the 100 best English-language novels according to "Time" magazine. A novel that continues to spark debate to this day. It is... a fantastically virtuosic narrative in form, which is not so easy to unravel. The most significant artistic discovery of the writer is that in one part of the novel the story is told from the perspective of an idiot, and in another – from the perspective of his brother, who gradually goes insane. It may seem that reading such a text is difficult – sometimes it practically lacks punctuation, and some phrases are simply unfinished. But because of this, we begin to understand the characters better, literally penetrating their souls, which produces a completely stunning effect.
