The Poetry of Gardens

The book of the outstanding scholar of the 20th century, philologist, academic Dmitry Sergeyevich Likhachev, is not a history of gardens or a description of individual works of garden art. It is an attempt to approach garden styles as manifestations of the artistic consciousness of a particular era or country. In every era, certain signs of the "style of the era" can be observed, which equally reflect in gardens and in poetry.
The book explores how the poet's creativity relates to garden art, what common styles and stylistic formations they adhere to, what common ideas they express, and, of course, the role of garden-park art in the poet's creative work.
